Hello, my name is Lisa.

I am on a mission to empower students who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling with the skills to succeed and shine.

As a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner/W.D.P., a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist/C-SLDI, and a licensed teacher, I am equipped with Orton-Gillingham multisensory teaching methodology and principles.  I have been trained by Orton-Gillingham of MN, which is accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council.  You can also see my listing on the Minnesota page of the International Dyslexia Association's Provider Directory.  Using the Wilson Reading System your child will receive one-on-one intensive, Tier 3 intervention that provides extensive instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Eliminate your child's frustration and give him/her the lasting foundation to achieve his/her dreams with skills to read, spell, and comprehend.  I'm excited to share with you how your child can benefit and grow as a life-long learner.

My Story

After teaching seventeen years in a Christian multi-grade classroom setting in Eagle River, Wisconsin, my husband and I moved to Duluth.  My teaching experience includes students from second through eighth grade in varying classroom grade combinations.   As a teacher I observed bright and intelligent students who were frustrated because they could not effectively convey what they knew when reading, spelling, and writing.  I felt ill-equipped to help them overcome their challenges.  In sharing my concern with a special education teacher, who happened to be a Wilson credentialed trainer, she told me about the impressive measurable improvement her students made when she utilized the Wilson Reading System.   She revealed that the Wilson Reading System benefited her students more than any other education or training she had received.  After completing the coursework and working with a practicum student my excitement grew.  The techniques I received and the documented gains my practicum student achieved supported the claims of my colleague.   I knew then, that I wanted to dedicate my teaching skills along with this fantastic tool to equip struggling learners to read, write, and gain confidence in their abilities.

For several years I continued as a classroom educator, tutoring students after school and during the summer.  My passion for helping these students led me to leave the classroom setting and devote my efforts as a dyslexia practitioner.  Moving to Duluth brought my husband and me closer to our family and opened up opportunities so that I could work with those who are in need of the proven methods that improve the lives of those struggling with learning language skills.
